A green bond is a bond that’s tagged to be used for “green” things...not like green eggs and ham, but like green energy and environmental projects. They’re sometimes called “climate bonds,” too.

Why get a green bond besides feeling oh-so energy-friendly? Because green bonds come with tax incentives, making them special compared to regular ol’ dirty bonds. Green bonds have gotten reaaalll popular, reaching the hundres of billions of dollars as it gets more and more likely that oil’s on its way out as the main energy star of the world.
