Gross National Income (GNI)

See: Gross National Product (GNP).

Gross National Income: one of the Great Gross Nationals that measures just how rich a country is. Gross National Income (GNI) is similar to Gross National Product (GNP). Fun Fact: the World Bank uses GNI now instead of GNP.

GNI is income earned by all of a country’s residents and businesses, including income that was earned across national borders. For GNI, investment profits count as “income” just as salary and wage compensation do.

Well, except income made under the table...part of the “black market”...the dark side. GNI also doesn’t include subsidies (not income), and doesn’t include any income made by foreigners while they were in the country.
