Gulf Opportunity Zone

Time to get in the zone: the Gulf Opportunity Zone.

Or maybe out of it.

The Gulf Opportunity Zone is the area that was devastated by the storms from 2005’s least favorite lady, Hurricane Katrina, including Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi.

The zone has such an official name because this area is eligible for special treatment to stimulate the economy post-catastrophe. The Gulf Opportunity Zone can get credits, deductions, and other incentives delegated to disaster relief areas. In order to take advantage of these benefits, you have to be eligible. Which means not being a vice-business (liquor store, golf course, etc.), among other filters for qualification.
