The balance beam always seems to be the toughest. But so does cave diving. And then you have fiery bowling ball juggling. That's always in the top ten, it seems.

Hard skills are things that directly "matter" to the world: computer coding in Java, fixing air conditioners and cars, operating on broken noses. Soft skills are things like being able to sing, philosophize about Machiavelli, and write for Shmoop. Nice to haves. But not must-haves.

And for the most part, salaries in aggregate reflect this difference.
