Hiring Freeze

Categories: Company Management

Oh, things were going so well at the paper and pulp mill. In 1987, it was The Bomb. The Place. The Cool Kids' Hangout. (The fumes from the bleach were to die for.) But then the internet sorta just came. And phones got smarter and cheaper. Same deal with computers. And iPads came. And soon the need for paper pulp…declined.

There were to be no more additional plants in more and more remote cities. There would be no union-dictated terms of 17 workers to do the work of 11. There were no more hires to be made, in fact. The paper and pulp mill one day simply froze all new hires until it could figure out something else to do with its paper and pulp, other than use it for newsprint.

We hear that execs inside were hoping for a global embrace of edgy, spicy Thai food. But that didn’t happen. As of yet. WKUP. Until then, as far as paper and pulp mill hires go...No Work For You.
