Holdco

See: Holding Company.

You know when your mom tries to use slang? She just wants to let you "homies" know that she's "down with" what you've "got goin' on."

Holdco is kind of like that. It's lawyer/accountant slang, The "dopest" kind, at least according to the lawyers and accountants we talked to for this definition. The term is short for "holding company."

And what's a holding company? It's a firm set up to control the stock of another firm. Like the big doll in a set of Russian dolls. Sometimes, it makes more legal and tax sense to create a holding company and buy another firm through it, rather than merging directly with the acquisition.
