Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a HUD (Housing and Urban Development in the US) program for low-income, elderly, and disabled folk, helping them afford safe and livable housing.

To be eligible for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, there are certain requirements for both you, the voucher-seeker, and for the house or apartment (doesn’t have to subsidized housing projects).

If you and your to-be-home are approved, HUD money gets funneled to your local public housing agency, which then pays the subsidy directly to your landlord. You’ll still owe some money, but the Housing Choice Voucher Program can be a helpful housing subsidy.
