Initial Coin Offering (ICO)

ICOs are like IPOs, but for coins. The digital kind. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, etc.
An initial coin offering (ICO) is the initial public offering (IPO) for cryptocurrencies...a way to earn funds from investors by selling shares and "going public." This is a popular route for startups, since it allows them to bypass all the red tape and delays of other fundraising options, like a bank loan or earning venture capital investment.
An ICO indicates that a cryptocurrency is selling its cryptocoin to investors in exchange for money, whether that’s old-school fiat money or other cryptocash. Investors are betting the cryptocurrency will appreciate, and the cryptocurrency is betting that the currency will expand and be successful.
