Who's gonna replace you when you're gone?
Sounds like a country song, doesn't it?
Well, in most corporations, there's a whole legacy of management. The big boss can get whacked by a bus at any time, or more likely go down in the corporate jet. She has so much knowledge to be passed on that it's considered irresponsible management to not have legacy planning, i.e. a whole series of "what happens ifs."
The Royals have all kinds of legacy planning, i.e. what goes down if the King or Queen dies. So why shouldn't corporate America?
