The lyrics apply in very heavy Eagles fashion to real life and, more importantly, to investing. Being rich for 13 weeks doesn’t really help you, or anyone else. Being rich even in a get-rich-slowly dynamic is the brass ring worth fighting for. The short run is Hollywood actors desperate to fill childhood attention gaps and bad parenting; the long run is doctors saving 10 grand a year to pay for their kids’ college.
