Market Maven

See: Warren Buffett. He's the ultimate market maven. Or maybe investing maven. Buffett buys stocks, puts them in a drawer for 25 years, and then revisits. So he's the verrrrrry long-term "market" maven.

Shorter-term mavens? People like Cramer on CNBC. He has a loud-mouthed talk show which decries 8-minute moves of stocks. He tracks the market like it's a horse race. His investment results are meh at best, but a lot of people watch him, so he's a maven.

So what's a maven, then? It's a leader, an opinion-maker, someone who moves markets...or at least moves people to do stuff within markets.

Maven. Rhymes with raven. Caw.
