Remember that scene from the old black and white movies where the very white guy with slicked back hair would hold his gal pal tight, look into her eyes and say something dashing? And she would then...swoon. Nearly faint.
Well, markets behave like that as well. The Fed suddenly drops rates and equities skyrocket. Or a series of fraud cases break out against large companies and the market drops. Or a big hacking steals the data of 100 million users, and boom, a swoon.
Remember that notion next time you're at dinner, watching the news reviewing the day's stock market returns with your gal pal. (Or dashing gentleman pal.)
