Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF)

Ever wonder how to combine a love of financial analysis with a passion for fighting crime? Wonder no more—the answer is financial forensics.

Financial forensics is like regular forensics, but with audits. Think: Bones, but for financial crimes like embezzling, tax fraud, money laundering, etc. Financial forensic specialists spend their time looking for evidence of financial crimes, and if they find any, they can be called upon to testify about it in court. Pretty cool stuff.

The best of the best financial forensic experts will sometimes have a MAFF: a Master Analyst in Financial Forensics certification. To get the credential, CPAs and other experienced finance types take courses on financial analysis, forensic accounting, criminology, and the litigation process. Then they have to pass an exam. And if they want their MAFF to stay current, they have to continue taking courses even after they certify.
