Medigap

What do we do when we’ve got medical expenses that Medicare won’t cover? Easy: we call our Medigap policy provider and ask if they’ll cover it.

What’s a Medigap policy? It’s an additional health insurance policy that is designed to fill in the gaps in Medicare coverage. We can buy Medigap policies through a number of insurance providers, and while they won’t cover everything (looking at you, dental and vision and prescription drugs), they can provide some much-needed financial relief when it comes to hospital stays, doctor visits, and other health-related costs.

The rules are as follows: one policy per person, a company can’t cancel our policy for any reason other than nonpayment, and premium costs are our responsibility and are in addition to what we pay for Medicare Part B.
