Morningstar Inc.

Categories: Stocks, Metrics

If the financial world were to publish a Who’s Who list, Morningstar, Inc. would most definitely be on it. This research and analysis firm, which is based in the Windy City, provides tons of data about how certain stocks, mutual funds, and other financial instruments are performing. They also provide consulting and management services and products, publish a much-used investment risk rating system (called the Morningstar Sustainability Rating), and issue all kinds of newsletters and fun research papers.

As of 2018, their revenue was upwards of $1 billion and the company was managing over $200 billion in assets. Not bad for a company that was founded the same year that The Karate Kid (the original) hit theaters.
