NEXUS

Categories: Tech, International

Breakups are tough, especially since our ex took our Shih Tzu, Frank, and moved to Canada. Happily for us, NEXUS exists. NEXUS is a system that allows certain Americans and Canadians to enjoy easier, faster border crossings, and it’s making it possible for our joint puppy custody agreement with the ex to work.

Now...not just any American or Canadian can get their mitts on one of those sweet NEXUS photo RFID cards, oh no. We have to be law-abiding, legal residents of one of the two countries, and we also can’t currently be under investigation by the fuzz on either side of the border. But if we meet those criteria, pay a fee, and pass muster in a personal interview with a rep from each nation, then we’ll be on our way to expedited border crossings in no time. Shorter interviews with Customs, shorter lines to get across, and—bonus—we get to keep our shoes on the whole time. NEXUS cards work for land, air, and sea travel, so whether we take a boat, a plane, or a pair of snowshoes to go see Frank, we’re covered.
