Old Economy

See: New Economy.

Trains. Roads. Even the Silk Road. Even the building of cars (which humans had to drive). Factories. Threshing machines. They were all old economy icons. We rode them silly during the Industrial Revolution. We armed ourselves with nukes and big fat bombs.

But now we live in a new economy, or a new era economy. All the old school stuff is fast being made obsolete, or at least softer as a mainstay of our economy, which is fast migrating from a production-and-farming based one to a service and tech oriented one, where robots and A.I. do a lot of the work and thinking and we, um...what will the masses do, again, in the new economy world? Yeah, we're just hoping robots can't make stupid education jokes for a living any time soon.
