Open Source

See: Open Architecture.

Computer code for everyone. Or at least everyone to use, change, tweak, adjust, totally mess up and call it their own.

To figure out what open source is, first consider what closed source is...or rather, what proprietary code or source code is.

The ultimate? Microsoft. Maybe Apple. You can’t edit it or do much of anything with it, until the Masters say "cool." Open Source is kind of a community Stone Soup activity. The village takes care of its own code.
