Outright Futures Position

Categories: Derivatives

Completely, entirely, forthrightly...outright.

Like...you outright love videos where kittens and turtles become best friends. Or you outright hate when you run out of videos to watch featuring kittens and turtles as best friends.

Now imagine the same complete, entire, forthright devotion to a futures position. As in, you don't have a way out. There's no hedge. An outright futures position means you have an unhedged futures contract for some underlying asset. The bet can either be long or short...the key point is that you don't have any offsetting position in place as a hedge or cover.
