Pipeline

Categories: Banking

It's the thing that carries dead dinosaur gloop all across Alaska and the country. That's one type of pipeline. Simple. ish.

Then there's the pipeline in a production company. Think: Tesla. They have a few different flavors of car that they make. Their pipeline for producing the cheaper ones is massively full, capacity constrained, as world demand remains high. Their pipeline is constrained by battery production; they need more, faster. And batteries can only be born so fast.

Most companies have kind of scheduled delivery system that's predictable and long-term-oriented, as they look at their existing set of products ready for delivery, and then have the ability to give the nod and the wink to distributors hungry to sell that product...and to suppliers anxious to sell to the company the raw materials it needs for production.

Pipe. Line. Not just a line of pipes.
