Pledged Asset

You need a loan to buy a Long John Silver's franchise. To get the funds, the bank requires that you provide some outside collateral. You commit your Fabergé egg collection to secure the loan.

The Fabergé eggs become your pledged assets. You have committed them as backing for the loan, making them your collateral. If the Long John Sliver's investment goes south and you default on the loan, the bank can take your Fabergé collection as a way to cover the debt.
