Portfolio Income

Your portfolio is diversified. It has common stocks that pay dividends. It has bonds. It has ownership shares in real estate partnerships, or REITs. In total, your portfolio's last quarter's NAV (mostly public, but some private investments) was worth $100 million (conveniently, for this illustration). The portfolio that quarter received cash interest, dividends, distributions, etc. of $3.2 million. That was just for the quarter. Annualize it, and that portfolio will have had $12.8 million in income...a whopping 12.8% yield.
