Problem Child

Categories: Managed Funds

That one bad stock in an otherwise lovely portfolio.

Doesn't every family have that one kid who is a pain? Or was that just an excission of those who became Shmoop writers?

Either way, that's a problem child. Investments are financial children. And every now and then a problem child is quietly put up for adoption and sold to the highest bidder, with the cash redeployed to make other, presumably better investments.
