Product Family

Categories: Company Management

Think: Apple products. They all talk to each other. They interoperate. They talk to each other, and really not so much to anyone else. Old mafioso family, kinda.

Their specific product family? Well, it starts with a Mac. Then goes to an iPad. And an iPhone. Then the chargers that juice everything. Then the software that lives on them—iTunes and security stuff and whatever else.

Why does Apple keep such a strong family of products? Well, if you’re hooked on one, you get all the others. Or rather, you’re forced to play by their rules, follow their directives, be connected with them, whether you like it or not. You never go against the family. Right, Michael. We know.
