Partners buy buildings. Buying buildings is a challenge. There are many variables, and often with big buildings, the price tags are so large that it's rare for individuals to buy in. Instead, they coalesce with various investment groups who want to own real estate, maybe happy to have pass-through income of the rent, and who often have tax situations where being able to aggressively depreciate costs of a building...makes sense.
