Repatriation

You have a subsidiary in Prague. The Czech people love buying your adult personal care products. And they pay for them in Czech koruna, their local currency. So you have 5.3 million KR in the CR, just jonesing to be repatriated to the U.S. in the form of dollars. How do you make this magic happen?
Well, you have to buy U.S. dollars with those koruna first. The transaction will net you about a million bucks. The bank then has to repatriate those dollars sitting in a Czech Bank back to a U.S. Bank, and...yes, of course there's a fee. But once the 900 grand is back on U.S. shores, it can be taxed nicely by the U.S. Government and turned into a tidy 500 grand and change in your pocket. And yeah, we felt a lot richer when it was 5.3 million KR.
