Revenue Per Occupied Room - RevPOR

Categories: Metrics

This one's all about pricing. Keyword: "Occupied," like the sign when you're in the airplane bathroom.

If a hotel had a million bucks in revenue for a night, but only 80% of their rooms occupied, and they have a total of 5,000 rooms (thinkin' Vegas here), then if they were 100% occupied they'd have averaged $200 a night, right? $200 times 5,000 is a million. But only 80% were occupied, so if they took in a million bucks, then the denominator is 80% of 5,000, or 4,000, to give $250 a night for that revenue per occupied room. And that's an 11 am checkout time, please.
