Safe Asset

Low, even no-ish risk. U.S. Government T-Bills. A Serta hollowed out and stuffed with twenties. A bank savings account. All safe assets.

The downside? Where there's little risk, there's little reward...so these assets appreciate in value verrrrry slowly. If you're under 80, you probably don't want a ton of your assets sitting around in this category of "safe," as you bring in the bigger danger of inflation eating deeply into your wealth. And that's just sad.
