Samurai Bond

The unbreakable blood oath taken between two master Japanese swordsmen. Don’t mess with a samurai bond or you might get sliced in half. You'll be, uh...beside yourself if that happens.
Also, it's the probably-less-than-totally-PC name for a particular class of bond that trades on the Japanese market. Specifically, these bonds are sold on the Tokyo market, but are issued by a company headquartered outside Japan. Meanwhile, the bonds themselves are denominated in yen.
Basically, they represent outside companies raising money from the Japanese market. Still, the debt instruments fall under Japanese authority and have to comply with regulations on the Tokyo market.
