Saver's Tax Credit

Saving for retirement can be a pain. After all, the money you put into your retirement account is a SkiDoo you aren’t buying now.

Luckily, there's kind of an AA-style support group for coxing you into saving for retirement. It's called the U.S. tax code. There exists a web of incentives that encourage retirement savings. Though, honestly, you probably shouldn't need any...beyond, of course, the prospect of eating nothing besides oatmeal and gruel in your golden years.

Anyway, the government offers a set of tax incentives to encourage you to put money aside. This includes the saver's tax credit. It provides an incentive to put money into qualified retirement accounts, like IRAs, 401(k)s, and other, similar programs.
