Take A Flier

A roll of the dice. A jump out of the window, hoping you land on someone's soft-top convertible. A lottery ticket. A single venture capital investment on two kids in a garage.

A flier is usually a relatively small amount of dough; you're not betting the ranch here. But if you have a million bucks in total savings, a flier might be a total lottery ticket venture spin for 10 grand or so. If you lose all of it, it'll hurt...but it won't ruin you.

Here's to hoping that ticket was 1,000 shares of AMZN at the IPO.
