Time-Based Currency

Time-based currency counts your time as your money, rather than your level of productivity within that time. Or, if you ever heard someone say that the U.S. should still be on the gold standard, that’s because the U.S. dollar used to be tied to the value of gold. Time-based currency is tied to time. And everybody’s got time. Ish.
Time-based currencies can be found world-wide, and are nothing new. Time banks all over the world trade goods and services for time credits. These time banks are usually promoting values of equality, and focusing on things like elderly care, program for juvenile offenders, re-entry for ex-cons, and even professional job training. It’s almost like neighbors doing each other favors, using time as currency. Pats-on-the-back all around. But way less sweet-smelling than thyme-based currency.
