Transformational Leadership

Leaders who influence their followers to do crazy stuff that they might not normally do, simply because they’re so convincing. Followers in this scenario might actually go against their best individual interests in order to further their organization’s goals or progress.

Think: MLK, Jr. Gandhi. Yeah, those guys.

Transformational leaders can even inspire self-sacrifice, not like jumping off a building or anything (although, who knows?... they might). But people might be willing to sacrifice their time off, portions of their paychecks, or other such things in order to help this organization and leader to whom they’ve become so dedicated.

It's a great skill to have. But people get led astray as well. Jim Jones. Hitler. Caveat Emptor.
