Tulipmania

The original Bubble. Tulips. Holland. 17th century. Tulips...of no intrinsic value, other than that they're...pretty. And they sold for something like 50 grand or more, in today's dollars. It was a giant greater fool theory trade, where everyone just presumed there'd always come along a greater fool who'd pay more for that bulb. And there was.

Until there wasn't.

Tulipmania ended, only to be followed centuries later by Botoxmania (also, interestingly, called Two Lip Mania). But yeah, that's totally different.
