Waiting Period

Categories: Regulations

She's been waiting for a few days now. In the meantime, she threw up a few times in the morning. Seemed a bit dizzy. And then she had you take her to CVS to buy DeadRabbit, a stick she could pee on to see whether...oh, wait. That's period waiting. We're talking waiting period.

In a financial sense, a waiting period comes up a lot in insurance. It's a period of time that you have to wait for your insurance to kick in after you buy it.

You buy some new insurance for your house, signing the papers on Monday morning. On Tuesday, a piece of the international space station crashes through your ceiling.

You call to file a claim. However, the nice call-center employee informs you that you weren't actually insured yet. Because of the waiting period.
