About Me

Intro

I get a bad rap for being kind of snooty and as much as I don't like to admit it, I'm a pretty big deal. Or so people tell me. A lot of big names have come my way and it wouldn't surprise me if a few more are in the works as we speak, but behind the notoriety is a genuine intelligence and awareness. I read a lot. People come to me for advice on topics from the financial crisis to post-modern feminist literature. I guess in that sense, I'm pretty versatile. Look at me tooting my own horn…after you take away the books and the inventions and the, er, former presidents, you're left with a spirit of curiosity and a passion for the pursuit of knowledge. That's what most people love to do around here—all the others go into finance.

Name

I guess John, but I like "the crimson crusader," too.

Hometown

Cambridge, Mass. Boston's young, bike-riding little cousin

Birthdate

1636

Body Type

6,400 undergraduates and change. Not too big, not too small. Just right—that is, you can always see your best buds while also being able to avoid that awkward hook-up from freshman year.

Current Living Situation

I'm on the "house system," kinda like Hogwarts. That's right, you get placed into a house after your freshman year, but no, there is no sorting hat (unfortunately). 97% of students stay on campus, so the main thing about the house system is that it fosters strong communities across the board.

Relationship Status

Well…MIT thinks we have a thing, but we definitely don't have a thing. Don't let the cancer research collaboration fool you.

Religion

In the 1600s, I was a pretty hardcore Puritan, but I've branched out a lot since then. Diversity is a very real thing when it comes to beliefs around here.

Politics

I lean left. I do. But there are always students (and alumni) pulling me back right.

You should apply to me if...

you care a lot about what you're interested in. Like, a whole lot.
