The Nine Worthies were a group of three Jewish, three pagan, and three Christian warriors who were all considered to be great examples of chivalry in the Middle Ages. David was one of them—along with King Arthur, Charlemagne, and Julius Caesar.

Yeah—it's true. David is apparently supposed to be the King of Spades. Weird, right? Was the dude really into gardening or something? (Source)

In July 2013, a team of Hebrew University archaeologists in Israel claimed that they discovered a palace belonging to King David (backed up by the fact that the palace evidently had a kosher kitchen—no joke). However, plenty of scholars dispute the claim, since there's no direct reference to David in the palace…Yet, the possibility remains.

Apparently, the star of David is rooted in magical and mystical ideas from the Middle Ages and not in the historical David. (Source)
