Ruth wakes up and feeds Travis and Walter
She refuses to give Travis fifty cents for school.
She teases and kisses Travis when he is upset.
When Walter gives Travis a dollar, it’s Ruth’s turn to get upset.
We learn that Ruth is pregnant and planning to abort the child.
She discourages Walter’s liquor store idea, but supports Walter’s position when later talking to Mama.
