A Year Down Yonder Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG

As you might expect from a book with "yonder" in its title, there's not a lot of steam between the front and back covers of this one.

Yes, there is a flirtation between Mary Alice and Royce, but the most that happens there is that Royce puts his arm around her. In the last pages of the book, of course, they get married, but it's still pretty vanilla. We don't even hear the phrase, "And now the bride and groom may kiss," although we assume they do.

Still, we're giving this book a PG-rating if only because of the incident with Maxine Patch. A nude lady with a snake draped around her shoulders? Um, yeah. We think that earns the "p" in front of the "g," even if the scene is mostly played for comedic effect.
