Aeneas
Aeneas was a prince of Troy who escaped the burning city just before the Greeks could lay their Greeky hands on him. Don't go thinking he was a chicken or anything, though—the gods totally forced him to abandon his city. Because he was a super-noble, awesome warrior (and then some), the gods hand picked him to sail across the Mediterranean and found the colony that would one day spawn the Roman Empire. After a ton of crazy adventures (Underworld!) and a really tragic love affair (Dido!), Aeneas made it to Italy, married a princess, and eventually became a god himself. Oh, and one of the most famous works of literature ever—the Aeneid—is named after him. Not too shabby.
