Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?

Arcadia is a play, so each character gets to speak for him or herself on an equal footing with the audience. The lack of a narrator also means that everything in the play has to be expressed through dialogue or direct action. In Arcadia there are, however, a few characters who loom large in the story but never get to speak for themselves: offstage Lord Byron and Mrs. Chater influence the action, while Gus Coverly is a silent presence onstage. Do we see these characters differently because we never actually see (or in Gus's case, hear) them?
