Character Role Analysis

Doc Brown

One would like to think that their guide/mentor wouldn't be the one getting them into trouble in the first place, but sometimes you have to take what you can get.

So yeah, if it weren't for Doc's invention Marty would have a much easier time of things, but once he is thrown into this pickle, Doc's the one who helps get him out. He's there to come up with a plan for Marty's return, he recognizes the adverse effect Marty's interactions with his parents might have and tells him how to right the wrong, and teaches him a thing or two about friendship and courage along the way.

We're just glad he didn't rub off on him in the hairstyle department. We don't think Marty could have pulled off the Einstein look.
