A Day No Pigs Would Die Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG

While there's the suggestion of a couple of scandalous affairs in the book (between Mrs. Bascom and her hired man and between Mr. Hillman and Letty Phelps), nothing too titillating goes down.

But don't get too comfortable. The down-to-earth, unfiltered quality of Rob's narrative can be a little, shall we say, cringe-inducing. Shmoop's TMI alert, at least, went off more than once while reading. There's some pretty explicit detail about how cows get born, not to mention some seriously unpleasant pig foreplay and—ahem—pig sex, that might be hard for the more sensitive reader to handle.

Bottom line: no cold showers needed, but read with caution, dear Shmoopers.
