  • 72-year-old Daisy backs her car over a hedge into the neighbor's yard. It was the car's fault.

  • She yells at Hoke about stupid stuff until finally agreeing to let him drive her to Piggly Wiggly.
  • She accuses Hoke of stealing a can of salmon, but he replaces the can he ate because her pork chops were gross.
  • When Miss Daisy finds out Hoke can't read, she gives him a phonics lesson.
  • On their way to Alabama, Miss Daisy refuses to let Hoke stop to pee, but he stops anyway, telling her she needs to treat him like a man, not like a child.
  • Miss Daisy grieves with Hoke when Idella, her maid, dies.
  • She's shocked when her Jewish Temple is later bombed.
  • When she attends a Martin Luther King, Jr. speech, she insults Hoke by sort-of asking him to go with her at the last minute. When he's insulted and refuses to go, she watches the speech alone, feeling guilty about being one of those good-people-who-do-nothing that Dr. King talks about.
  • Miss Daisy develops dementia. When Hoke comforts her, she tells him he's her best friend.
  • She's put in a retirement home and Boolie sells her house.
  • Her happiest moments are her visits from Hoke.
