Cal Timeline and Summary

Cal is born the twin of Aron. His mother leaves the ranch shortly after.
It takes about a year before Adam gets around to naming his kids.
Cal and Aron grow up together on the Trask ranch, during which time Cal (1) meets Abra and (2) overhears Adam and Lee discussing Kate. Uh-oh.
Then, when they boys are about ten, they move to Salinas and start going to the big fancy town school.
Cal takes to wandering the streets alone at night. At one point he is caught at the wrong place at the wrong time and gets arrested on a gambling raid, which leads to a rare moment of paternal affection from Adam.
Cal starts following Kate, and eventually confronts her about who he is.
In order to win his father's love, Cal makes a deal with Will Hamilton and earns back some of the money that his father lost on the lettuce fiasco—but he does it by taking advantage of the war and the price of beans.
While Aron is back home for Thanksgiving, Cal presents his dad with the money… and is rejected.
In a rage Cal takes Aron to Kate's place and goes on a whiskey-binge.
Cal burns the money that he earned.
With Aron away in the army, Cal and Abra start to get closer.
Right before Adam dies, he gives Cal his blessing.
