- They're talking about something that must be done. Lee wonders if the Board will be a problem, but Hardin assures him that only Fara is even close to figuring it out, and he's just scooting around the edge of the problem.
- Hardin says it has to be done. The Board members aren't bad people, but their focus on the Encyclopedia renders them incompetent as leaders.
- But what about Seldon? If the encyclopedia really was so important to him, then at what cost will Hardin and Lee's coup d'état come?
