  • Henry Frankenstein, son of Baron Frankenstein, studies under Dr. Waldman at the university, working on the problem of how to create life.
  • The young scientist proposes to Elizabeth, but tells her he must complete his experiments first.
  • He and his assistant Fritz go in search of dead bodies and brains in order to create life. (Eew.)
  • All those dead bodies and brains get sewn together, and Henry creates his monster.
  • But monsters cause problems; this one kills Fritz, which freaks Henry out.
  • Dr. Waldman and Elizabeth convince him to go back home and work on preparations for marriage. Waldman promises to destroy the monster.
  • Henry feels much better—but on the day of the wedding, Dr. Waldman is missing.
  • The monster has killed Waldman, escaped, and drowned a little girl.
