Character Analysis
Salander's mother is about 46 and lives in Äppelviken Nursing Home, where Salander visits her. In this novel, we don't learn her name, or even why she's in a nursing home. She dies when Salander and Blomkvist are in London, and Salander flies home to handle the matter. Salander fears that she'll never have the answers to the questions (we don't learn the questions) she has about her past. Will Salander find the answers she's looking for?
