Arthur Timeline & Summary

  • Arthur climbs out from underground to forage food for himself and Grandfather. Unfortunately, though, a tangle with an angry lady whose bananas he "liberates" makes his wings malfunction.
  • While recovering, Arthur sees a cheese hunt, and goes closer to investigate.
  • The leader, Snatcher, tries to capture Arthur; he succeeds in taking Arthur's wings before Arthur escapes.
  • Arthur hides in a building that turns out to be full of monsters, or rather, underlings: three boxtrolls and a cabbagehead. Their ex-lawyer friend, Willbury, agrees to take Arthur in until they can figure out how to get him back underground.
  • The underlings lead Arthur and Willbury to all the access points they know of, but they've all been sealed up. So Arthur is stuck aboveground a little longer.
  • Willbury takes Arthur to the market, where they see some fashionable dame who reminds Arthur of Snatcher. Then it's on to the patent hall, where Arthur meets Marjorie, an inventor who agrees to help Arthur recover his wings.
  • Back at the shop, they find the underlings missing. When a human and rat stop by to ask if they want to put in a laundry order, Arthur and his group go back to their ship to meet with the captain about the recent spate of kidnappings.
  • Arthur and the rest go check out the Cheese Hall, but can't get in. Arthur stays behind with a few others to keep an eye out things, but when he gets the chance to sneak in, he does.
  • Arthur finds his underling friends and his wings, but he can't get either out. He hides when the Cheese Hunt returns, and by stealing Snatcher's keys, manages to gain access to his wings so he can fix them.
  • He releases the underlings, and they all flee back to the ship. But Snatcher has the police arrest Arthur and turn him over to Snatcher's custody… so it's back to the Cheese Hall.
  • While in the dungeon, Arthur meets another imprisoned dude, Herbert, who turns out to be Grandfather's childhood buddy who's been imprisoned. This is after he witnessed the crime the Snatcher falsely accused Grandfather of committing, which explains why Grandfather and Arthur must live underground.
  • With Grandfather's help, Arthur gets the keys from a snoozing guard, and he and Herbert come up from the dungeon in time to disrupt Snatcher's plans to shrink everyone in their party.
  • They all escape back to the ship, but decide to come back to the Cheese Hall to try to stop the giant Framley from wreaking havoc on the town.
  • Arthur comes up with the idea to use a magnet to bring the iron-clad behemoth back to the Cheese Hall, and it works: Framley explodes, knocking everyone to the ground in a cheesy film.
  • Arthur flies back to the ship to tell Grandfather what's happened, and they spend some time recovering from the events.
  • Now Arthur gets to live aboveground with Grandfather, in a suite above Willbury's place. And he gets to help Marjorie with her next invention. Life is good for Arthur.
