Character Role Analysis

Corinna Burdette

Corinna's the one who lost her mom, and she's the one who tells us what losing your mom is like. We go along with her on her eighth-grade year as she tries to cope with boys, girls, a weak social studies teacher, and—oh yeah—intense and crippling grief. The book's major dramatic question is whether or not Corinna will make it through the year without having a breakdown. Fortunately, she does, though it's definitely not easy and we root for her the entire time.
